Jack was doing an excellent job of holding off the pressure from behind, running at a consistent pace to those around him. With a few laps left, Jack made an unfortunate mistake and spun into the gravel. Despite the DNF, after post-race penalties were delivered, the #90 team finished third in class, still managing to secure a class podium and get some good points for the Silver Cup Sprint Championship.
In Race Two Jack started from Silver Class Pole and had a great start, keeping it clean off the line to retain class lead. Jack showed his race craft as he fought through a track incident coming out of Druids, lucky to get the car through without incurring any damage. At the handover to Nico, Jack was still leading the Silver Class and was in a brilliant position to take the class win.
Jack and Nico crossed the line to take Silver Cup victory and P8 overall, but a post-race 30 second penalty saw the pair demoted to second in class. The weekend was not the kindest to Jack and Nico, but they will come back fighting in two weeks’ time where Jack takes on his second home circuit at the location of his first racing victory, Silverstone.
Reflecting on the weekend, Jack Manchester said: “I came away with some good positives this weekend, not least that the 3rd and 2nd place race finishes puts us in the lead of the Silver Cup Sprint Championship. A mixed weekend but a strong one with many learnings; I was only a few tenths off Nico in qualifying and able to hold my ground for P5 overall in Race One. Now we look ahead to Silverstone.”
