Manchester and his Thunderhead Carlin Racing team head into the season finale of the Asian Le Mans Series this weekend in high spirits as the four-round championship concludes in Buriram, Thailand. After a spectacular race win last weekend in Malaysia, Manchester’s championship hopes are still intact with one final four-hour race to run.
Manchester buoyed for season finale
Following his maiden LMP2 victory less than one week ago in Sepang, Manchester turns his attention to the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand. Once again, this will present another new challenge for Manchester, the Thunderhead Carlin Racing team, Harry Tincknell, Ben Barnicoat and their Dallara P217. In anticipation of the weekend, Manchester has been working hard at the Carlin base on the simulator with his race engineer as he gets ready to tackle the 12-corner, 4.553km Herman Tilke designed track.
As championship protagonists, Manchester’s team sit just nine points behind the current championship leaders. And with a Le Mans 24 Hours entry up for grabs, this weekend’s showdown will likely go down to the wire and provide a thrilling conclusion.
“I cannot wait for the final round this weekend."
Manchester said, “I cannot wait for the final round this weekend. It’s another new track and in a fantastic country so this is going to be good fun. It’s also great to be going into the season finale knowing that we have a shot for the championship win – that’s a huge achievement and a testament to the hard work that everyone’s put in at Thunderhead Carlin Racing over the past year.
“The final round looks as though it’s going to be as exciting as ever in what has been a great championship. I’ve enjoyed every minute of competing in the series and I’m really looking forward to getting out on track on Friday and aiming to finish the campaign on a real high.”
