In a weekend to remember, Jack Manchester and Nico Bastian scored two podiums at the Hungaroring to secure the Blancpain GT Sprint Cup - Silver Cup title with a round to spare, 36 points clear of their closest rivals with 92.5 total.
The Team Thunderhead AKKA ASP Team Mercedes-AMG GT3 quickly established itself as a Silver Cup frontrunner during Free Practice 1 and 2 on Friday, contesting for the fastest time amongst overall championship favourites and factory teams.
Qualifying proved to be the greatest challenge of the weekend for Jack, as tricky conditions versus Friday's dry running produced both the team's first pole position and P21.
Despite a mixed wet-dry track, Nico started strong in Race 1's front-running pack of cars for his 35-minute stint before pitting for the mandatory driver change. Once in the car, Jack continued where his teammate left off with a mistake-free run to 7th overall, 2nd in class.
Race 2 brought thunder and lightning for Team Thunderhead, quite literally, as the heavens opened for a massive downpour minutes before the green light. From P21, Jack started his charge through the spray and maintained respectable pace versus other Silver Cup competitors, despite no wet running at the track prior to the race start. After driver changes a timely safety car appearance allowed Nico to make last-gasp moves for yet another Top 10 finish, 2nd in class.
